One of the last steps to conclude the migration process is to remove the Routing Group Connectors.
From there, it is absolutely essential that Exchange 2003 be uninstalled from the SBS 2003 server!

When the sbs 2003 server is demoted to member server, can it stay in the network as a member server for longer than the 21 day grace period?
ReplyDeleteA,
ReplyDeleteThe straight answer is no.
If the server is to be used for something else, Open Value Licensing with Software Assurance is one of the better deals for small to medium businesses.

Having problems with uninstalling exchange. It's not available in my add/remove programs unless I click show updates and then when I highlight it it doesn't have remove next to it.
ReplyDeleteIs there another way to rid the network of the legacy exchange server?
Bryan,
ReplyDeleteYou uninstall it via Add/Remove --> SBS --> Change --> Uninstall Exchange.
It is a component of SBS, therefore it will be found there.

Note that you will need the SBS install disk with the Exchange install directory to remove Exchange from the source server.

What if I already demoted the server? I did not remove exchange 2003. What can I do now? Public folders do not work.
