Intel Modular Server – MPIO Driver Install Requires Second Reboot

When we are in the process of standing up a new Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 cluster node on the Intel Modular Server we walk through an initial set of OS preparation steps.

One is to install the Intel MPIO driver.

When we do, once the compute module has completed its reboot it will more than likely request another reboot:

It’s important to note that the reboot request dialogue box may not show up right away depending on the CPU configuration in the compute modules.

After installing the MPIO driver and logging in once the compute module reboot cycle finishes, give the OS some time to process the changes that have been made. The reboot request should come up then.
