During the setup process, all of the VMs on the Hyper-V box would go into pause mode.
VirtualMachine: Paused-CriticalThat message was a bit of a puzzle since as far as we knew things were 100% with the Hyper-V box. It was pretty much a new build.
It seems that this condition indicates the storage location for the VM files is running out of space: Microsoft TechNet Forums: Virtual machine state: Paused-Critical.
Sure enough, when looking at the partitioning scheme and available space, the partition the VMs were residing on was just about full.
A little partition restructuring was done to fix the shortage of space and the VMs no longer paused.
