If you enjoyed last month's SBS 2008 Setup Webinar, then please join us tomorrow morning at 09:00AM Mountain Standard for the continuation of that SBS 2008 setup: SBS 2008 Setup Part II: Client-side.
We will run through the various Getting Started Tasks, connect a client or two to the SBS network, and run through some of SBS' new features.
Please join us if you have the time!
Sorry about the short notice, with my being down with the flu, things have fallen a bit behind.

Neat meeting, thanks Philip.
ReplyDeleteAs to the lab setup, I've had very good results with the dell inspiron 530 desktop machines and 6gb memory - the install was actually quicker (in a vm) on this machine than it was on some "proper" servers at the recent loadfest in Cincinatti.
pc is around $450 plus an extra $60 or so for memory to bump from 3 to 6 gig (max is 8gb).
With the trial versions for download from microsoft you don't have to worry about the os either
My brain kinda lapsed there and defaulted right into a server setup.
ReplyDeleteOur default lab computer is:
Intel DQ35JO or DQ45CB
Intel Q9450 or Q9550
8GB Kingston RAM
320GB Barracuda RAID 1 or RAID 1+0
With the advent of Mini-ITX, our next lab project as well as classroom learning tower will look somewhat like this: Mini-ITX Cluster.
TechNet is licensed for lab use, so it can drive the lab machine OSs as long as that is all that they do of course! ;)
Thanks,
Philip
