SBS 2008 Set Up Guide v1.5.0 Released

We just changed our SBS 2008 Setup Guide with a number of additions as well as some restructuring.

The Guide is provided to help us provide a consistent install experience for SBS 2008.

The more consistent we are in our installs, the simpler troubleshooting becomes if there is a problem with something on the software side of things or the hardware side of things.

Having that consistency also makes it a lot easier for a technician working with multiple SBS boxes throughout the day to accomplish their job.

BGInfo by SysInternals takes are of putting the server name and IP address on the desktop so that they have one of many visual cues as to which server they are managing.

Great guide!
Has anyone found a way to keep using BGInfo with Logmein as a remote support tool? There is always an error where either the screen gets refreshed or a new bitmap gets created and Logmein wont show it and produces an error - possible with the script it runs.

Richard,

You can tweak the BGInfo settings to drop the BMP in the user profile temp directory to avoid some common errors.

I find that BGInfo, in the case of LogMeIn or RDP etc, when a pre-existing session is connected to by any remote management tool will not show up the background.

There is no workaround other than re-running the script or running a local shortcut that I know of.

Thanks for the compliment!
