Windows 7 RTM on TechNet – Not Quite There Yet

Apparently the servers we connect to from our location here in Canada are not updated yet:

Hopefully we will see them updated sometime soon so that we can begin downloading both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 RTM.

Anyone out there downloading yet?

Try the "Top downloads" tab instead (a.k.a. alternate download site" which uses Akamai's Download Manager and their cacheing servers. Waaaayyyy faster than the MSDN pipe.

Thanks for the tip JohnW, my download was only 150mb after an hour. Top downloads link works MUCH faster. Rock n roll!

i'll have to try that - I was only getting 30k/s

Yes, the alternate links work just fine. The catch is that the download manager for that connection does not seem to support queueing?

But, our full pipe at 700KB/Sec is definitely being utilized by the alternate.

Worked well for me last night from home (much faster than the office).
However I was annoyed to find my windows7 client shut down the original download as it decided the computer wasn't busy and used the 30minute power saving mode to shutdown.
Turned it off, used the alternate download and left it running.
Started the install off before work this morning and will finish it off tonight.

Interesting that Windows2008r2 isn't available yet though.
