When it comes time to work with the actual Compute Modules for configuration purposes such as making changes to the BIOS settings, Java needs to be installed on the management desktop or workstation.
We found that IE8 on Windows 7 had a bit of a problem with the way the KVM applet runs via the Modular Server Control (MSC) console.
We needed to add the MSC IP address to the Trusted Sites in IE8 then set the security settings for Trusted Sites to Low before the little applet file that gets generated for the KVM session would come up.
Once in the Trusted Sites, we closed the browser and reopened it again.
Click on the Remote KVM & CD link to initiate the KVM session:

In most cases, the defaults will work just fine. Click Apply.
Click on the Open button on the following:
The KVM session will initiate from there.
